aka Skipper Dog? - NO. Although this breed was, for years, thought to have been a companion to Dutch & Belgian boat captains, because of a misinterpretation of it's name. This is now considered a myth, by most breed enthusiasts and experts. The name, actually, means "small shepherd dog".
BELGIUM - Max. 18 lbs. Double coated with an abundant and harsh, straight, topcoat. A ruff of longer hair is present around the neck, with longer hair on the chest and backs of rear legs (culotte and jabot). In the US, the only color accepted by the AKC is black. Abroad, the breed is also seen in a range of tans and fawn.
